Is it safe to use around other plants?

Topbuxus is perfectly safe to use around any plant. The products are designed specifically to optimise Buxus nutrition but can provide secondary nutrients to other surrounding plants.

What time of year is best to use products?

Both our TOPBUXUS HEALTH-MIX and TOPBUXUS GROW can be used at all times of the year. Although there are seasonal specific benefits to each product, they are perfect for delivering exactly what your Buxus needs no matter the time of year.

Any off-season applications will further establish your Buxus to excel in Spring.

When is the best time to use Topbuxus Health-Mix?

Apply Topbuxus Health-Mix throughout the year for optimal results. However, during the cooler months, you can reduce the application frequency.

When is the best time to use Topbuxus Grow?

Buxus benefit most from fertilising in spring to promote green growth or in late fall to promote root growth over winter.

Apply TOPBUXUS GROW 3 times per season as soon as new buds appear.

Which product works the best?

Both products are effective on their own but are better used in combination. They were designed to assist plant health in different ways and will give you the best result when applied together.

Can I use Topbuxus Grow with Topbuxus Health-Mix?

Yes! When the products are used together, the fertilisers provide the complete nutritional system your Buxus crave!!

Is it safe to use in the heat?

TOPBUXUS HEALTH-MIX and TOPBUXUS GROW can be used at all times of the year. However, in summer, it is best to spray the TOPBUXUS HEALTH-MIX in the early morning, late evening, or during the day at temperatures 25℃ or below.

Can I apply Topbuxus Health-Mix in the winter?

No problem at all. If you have Buxus Blight, TOPBUXUS HEALTH-MIX will still be effective but don’t expect much visual improvement during the winter months as the plants are hardly growing at this time of year.

How long till you see results with Topbuxus Health-Mix?

Customers typically report seeing a change around the 2–4-week mark. However, this is dependent on plant health and time of year. If the plants' condition is extremely poor, it might take a bit longer to see results. Also, if temperatures are consistently below 25℃ (eg. Late Autumn, and Winter), visible changes may not be seen till the temperature consistently increases.

Do I apply Topbuxus Health-Mix to the roots/base of the plant or spray all over?

TOPBUXUS HEALTH-MIX is a foliar feed and is taken in by the plant through the leaves, not the roots.

Spray the plants all over and if possible apply to the centre of the plant as well.

Do I use a sprayer to apply Topbuxus Grow?

No. This Buxus fertiliser is granular.

Apply it to the soil directly or over mulch and water it into the soil.

How do I know if I’ve got Buxus Blight?

Typical symptoms of Buxus Blight are dark spots appearing on the leaves, followed by the whole leaf turning brown, or black. Leaves will quickly fall and the stems may show dark patches. However, yellow or sick looking Buxus can be caused by many underlying reasons. If your plant has been in the same pot for a long time maybe it has used up all the nutrients in the compost and just needs potting up into a larger container. Perhaps the ground is poor or the plant is in deep shade all day and is simply lacking in essential nutrients or sunlight.

My plants are looking sick and there are small cobwebs/webbing all over them – is this Blight?

Very likely you have an infestation of the Buxus Tree Caterpillar (Cydalima perspectalis) and unfortunately, TOPBUXUS HEALTH-MIX will not deal with this problem. However, there are effective treatments available for this problem.

Can I spray my plants after I have just trimmed them?

Yes, you can. Spraying after trimming will protect the wounds against infection.

However, in summer, it is best to spray the TOPBUXUS HEALTH-MIX in the early morning, late evening, or during the day at temperatures 25℃ or below.

Can I apply the fertiliser after I’ve pruned my Buxus?

Yes. Fertilise after you have pruned to help give your Buxus a nutritional boost to enhance its regrowth and rejuvenation.

What will happen if I give my plants an ‘overdose’ of Topbuxus Health-Mix?

Don’t worry, your plants will not be damaged by an ‘overdose’.

Can I over fertilise my Buxus?

Yes. Using too much fertiliser can be just as bad as inadequate amounts. Over fertilising will cause the leaves to brown and may even result in branches dying.  Apply the appropriate amount. To be even safer, make sure the area has been thoroughly irrigated before applying any fertiliser.

Can I use Topbuxus Health-Mix along with other sprays?

In our experience, TOPBUXUS HEALTH-MIX can be safely used along with any other sprays or insecticides. However, spraying with other products very soon after you’ve just applied TOPBUXUS HEALTH-MIX would not be advised as this may wash off the Health Mix.

Allow TOPBUXUS HEALTH-MIX 24 hours to dry before applying anything else to your plants. (12 hours may be fine if the weather is warm and sunny).

Once I’ve made up my Topbuxus Health-Mix solution, how long will it keep for?

There’s no defined period but you’ll be fine to keep it a couple of weeks, although it may need stirring or shaking when you come to use it again. If the mixture becomes ‘lumpy’ or solidifies in any way we would advise you dispose of it as it is likely to block your sprayer nozzle.

Is Topbuxus Grow fertiliser safe to use around dogs, cats and wildlife?

TOPBUXUS GROW fertiliser does not pose any health risks when applied according to the instructions. After you spread the fertiliser, water it into the soil and allow it to dry before you have your dog or cat return to the treated Buxus area.
